Khaled Al-Hafez: Arabic Music & Singing

In this seminar, we will focus on classical Arabic singing and some maqams (melodic modes) and rhythms that accompany the songs that we will be learning.

The focus will be through the framework of the muwashshah (a foundational form of classical Arabic songs and an ideal one for learning maqams, rhythms, and the fundamentals of classical Arabic singing).

We will also work on perfecting the pronunciation of the poetic language of these muwashshahat.
