Nikos Angousis
Nikos Angousis was born in 1982 in Athens. He is a third-generation musician, of the well-known music family Doitsidis and his first musical stimuli come from his family.
His first systematic involvement with the clarinet (in the first phase classical) began at the age of 12 with his first teacher the German Johan Weis, and continued at the Municipal Conservatory of Stavroupolis with teacher Fotis Terzis. At the same time, he makes his first timid steps in traditional music by participating in concerts of his family.
He graduated from the Department of Folk and Traditional Music Technological education institution. During his studies at the department, he apprenticed with George Karaferis, Alexandros Arkadopoulos and Kostas Zervas. In 2022, he gratuated the Postgraduate Program in Ethnomusicology and Cultural Anthropology, with a focus on “Performance / Interpretation of Traditional Music” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
As for his artistic gatherings, he has occasionally collaborated with several well-known singers of the folk / traditional and artistic / ethnic space. At the same time, he is one of the founding members of the band Bratimia. He is also a key member of the Loxandra Ensemble and Rodopi Ensemble. Among others, he collaborated from time to time with various music groups such as Villagers of Ioannina City, kontrabando ensemble, Estoudiantina Nea Ionia, Thrakomelo, etc.
He has taken part in various concerts and folk music festivals both at home and abroad.
In recent years he has been teaching Traditional clarinet in various Music Schools and Conservatories throughout Greece.
Finally, he presents a rich record activity, with the recent release of his first solo album, Me mia pnoi… horos (With a Breath… Dance) (LM111).
