
Lamia Yared
Singer and oud player Lamia Yared draws her repertoire from Near-Eastern traditions. Interpret of muwashahat, şarkilar as well as Sephardic repertoire, she revisits songs from the Ottoman era.
Through her travels in Greece, Turkey and Lebanon, Lamia has studied with renowned masters of classical Arabic and Turkish music, honing her interpretation skills of the Muwashah and Türk Sanat Müziği repertoire. Collaborating with unparalleled musicians in Canada, she’s been performing through various festivals across Canada as well as in the Netherlands, Greece and Turkey.
Lamia Yared has produced with her ensemble two albums; Chants des Trois Cours, which has been awarded among the ten best album releases in Songlines Bristish magazine in 2020. As for her second album, Ottoman Splendours, with Oraciones Ensemble, it has newly been released under Analekta label.
