
Miriam Encinas Laffitte
Producer and multi-instrumentalist born into a family of musicians. Her innate musicality combines the sensitivity of a performer rooted in traditional music with the rigor and precision of academic training. Her current artistic and research focus lies in medieval music, traditional music, and the modal traditions of the Mediterranean and Central Asia.
She began her recorder studies with Sara Parés and later obtained her degree in this instrument at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona. She has attended courses with renowned early music specialists such as Pedro Memelsdorff, Christian Curnyn, and Pia Elsdorfer.
Her lifelong interest in percussion led her to study ancient and Eastern percussion in a self-taught manner, while also attending workshops with Pedro Estevan, Jarrod Cagwin, Vasilis Sarikis, Bijan Chemirani, and Aniol López. At the same time, she delved into the world of bowed strings, studying viola da gamba with Cristian Sala and dilruba and Afghan music with Daud Khan Sadozai.
She has been a member and co-founder of Evo, Mos Azimans, and Joi de Trobar, and has collaborated with a wide range of artists and ensembles, including Via Artis Konsort, L’Ham de Foc, Ensemble l’Albera, Efrén López, Kelly Thoma, Stelios Petrakis, Milo ke Mandarini, Los Caminos de Serkeci, Ross Daly & Labyrinth Modal Ensemble, Daud Khan Sadozai, Sima Bina, Zohreh Jooya & Ensemble Afghan, Noma Omran, Sendarena, Rusó Sala, Canimas, Roger Mas, Windu Quartet, Stellamara, Mashrabiya, Tristan Driessen & Michalis Koloumis, Carola Ortiz, and Sandra Sangiao.
She currently performs with Intactvs, Cabra, Paxaras, and Toasaves, and is part of The Book of Queens project by Camille Bordet and Mostafa Taleb.

In 2020 she composed the soundtrack for Per molt que bufe el vent by David Segarra, and for No s’apaguen les estrelles by Xavi Sarrià and David Segarra. She has performed across Europe, the Americas, Iceland, and Canada.
As an educator, she is a specialist in the recorder. She has led recorder workshops in school programs and participated in several children’s productions with different companies. She currently teaches at the Escola de Música del Gironès.
