Workshop on transversal techniques for plucked string instruments – Efrén López
In this workshop we will analyze different traditional techniques of the many and varied traditional lutes of the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and Central Asia, to apply them to any other plucked string instrument we play, even if they are “foreign” to those musical cultures (guitar, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, etc).
Ornaments and rhythmic patterns of instruments such as the Turkish bağlama, the Arabic/Turkish oud, the Azeri/Persian tar, or the Afghan rabab can be applied to our instruments to enrich their vocabulary, phrasing and rhythmic possibilities.
